SWOT analysis – eMarketing
A SWOT analysis can be a crucial tool in running a check on your organisations eMarketing. SWOT is short for Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats and just bearing that list in mind you will be able to better analyse your eBusiness situation and the a build a plan around this.
The important fact to remember is that the Strengths & Weaknesses are looking internally at your organisation; strength could be expert product knowledge whilst a weakness might be a lack of technical skills.
On the other hand Opportunities & Threats are looking externally from the organisation. Here opportunities may be new markets or marketing technologies and threats could be competition; their product, service or price.
So how does this affect your web marketing or eMarketing?
Well as previously discussed putting together a strategic plan will help you stay ahead of the competition with your online marketing and eMarketing. By doing a SWOT analysis you can better define your situation which will help you then set out your objectives and strategy as well an define the eTools and resources you will need to get there.
You will be able to define your strengths and build on these and by realising your weaknesses earlier on you will be able to correctly plan to resource these areas. By staying one step ahead as regards opportunity you can become a market leader and my recognising the threats you can plan to avoid them or deal with them head on.
Your strength may be in the ideas of your business but your weakness might be in the web design and development skills you may need to realise them. So by employing the services of a web developer with the needed skills you need you can then have the time to focus on the areas that you are good at; running the business.
By identifying a new market or marketing opportunity you can take advantage of this early on. If this is a technology based opportunity a word of caution here is to make sure the technology is to the benefit of the customer and not for technologies sake only because you could spend a lot of time and money on a technology that never really takes off or is of no use to the customer.
The threats may well be from the competition and their shear marketing budget but by recognising this you can think of more creative way to market your business. Try and spot their weaknesses so that you can become a threat to them not the other way around.
