Free Marketing & Advertising Advice
Marketing is about understanding your customer's needs and wants and then marketing to their needs and wants. You need to understand their behaviour and gain insight into why they do and do not buy.
That may be slightly advanced for some smaller companies and customer insight may be seen as a luxury which is fine not all companies have endless marketing budgets.
So here is some simple Free Marketing and Advertising Advice.
Firstly make sure you are marketing or advertising your company. Yes a lot of companies survive on word of mouth but if they were to advertise online or offline as well they would see no doubt growth on top of survival.
If you can't afford to employ a marketing agency then use common sense. Have a budget in mind and think about advertising in places that your potential customers are going to be looking or reading.
Get the obvious business listings in the directories both online and telephone directories – if you are a carpenter in Ipswich people will pick up the local phone book looking for a local carpenter in Ipswich – even better if you can afford some advertising in these directories because for what you could pay in 2 months of local press advertising you could get a year in a local business directory and always barter on price.
Look at local or trade specific press and run an advertising campaign in these. If budget allows advertise in as many as possible and get them to agree to some free PR about your company as part of the package as this will make them stand out all the more.
With all advertising you need to be able to track which ones are and aren't working so that you can refocus your resources on expanding the areas that are working. You can do this either with different offer codes on each advert, or different 0800 or marketing numbers or simply by asking each customer that calls where they heard about you.
We will be updating these areas shortly to advise on how to create eye catching adverts that attract attention.
