What is the difference between Telemarketing and Telesales?
There are lots of consultancies out there that will give you a very technical nonsense filled answer to this but its simple:
Telesales: is selling products or services over the phone
Telemarketing: is the art cold calling prospects to clean data, generate interest and brand awareness and turn cold data into warm leads so that telesales or sales staff can sell them a product or service or so that a marketing department can offer more targeted marketing.
There are many out of date sales and marketing directors, trainers and so on out there that haven't picked up a phone in years that will try and tell you how this should be done. They will teach you out of date techniques that involve positive thinking, reverse selling or clever little tricks that no longer have a place in telemarketing.
